Texaco in the Canary Islands
In 1923, Texaco first arrived in Spain when it appointed D Eufemiano Fuentes as its first fuel importers in the Canary Islands. At the same time, it opened its first service station on the island of La Palma and then in 1934, the Texas Company was formed and registered in Las Palmas as a subsidiary of the Texaco business worldwide. The company subsequently established a fuel terminal in Las Palmas to store and supply local shipping.

The company changed its name to Texaco Canarias in 1964 and it remained this way until 1987 when it entered the mainland Spanish market and became Texaco Petrolifera SA. In 1996, Texaco Corporation sold its retail business on mainland Spain and in 2001 merged with Chevron Corporation of the US and the company adopted its current name of Chevron Espana SA in 2006. Chevron owns the brands Chevron, Texaco and Caltex and is present in the Spanish market through the Texaco brand for its retail and lubricants operations and Chevron brand for its marine and aviation businesses.

The Texaco branded retail network consists of 60 service stations on five of the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma).
